![]() ![]() I have a DK2, and the way youtubers cover VR is fine at the moment. Don't adjust your goggles while playing (makes the whole screen jerk around uncomfortably) and just plain old don't do stuff that a camera man wouldn't do. ![]() ![]() If you want to make compelling videos showing off games you sort of have to use your head in a way that is comfortable for the viewer as well. My tip to GB is to learn how to use VR headsets as soon as possible. Sony Valve and Oculus are the only ones who need to freak out about selling VR as a concept. People are freaking out about nothing when it comes to VR coverage. There's no special magical thing needed to cover VR games any more than we needed one to cover Wii games or Kinect. It's really really easy when you think about it. Once there are arms in game as well, then you zoom out and do full body. And showing 2d content on a screen to show off VR games is fine, because people can go "man, this probably looks fucking awesome in VR."Īll they need to do is put a camera on the face of the dude who plays so we can see his head motion. Within 6 months after VR launch, people who care about VR at all will have tried it. The back of the nintendo boxes in the 80s didn't explain what it was like to play games (a novel concept at the time), you already knew, or you went to an arcade to find out if you were interested at all. That's for Playstation/Valve/Oculus to do, sell them on the tech and make people understand how a screenshot or a video translates to what it is like to play in VR. To me, it seems like they believe they have to show people what VR is. I've been thinking about VR a whole bunch, and I've been hearing the GB guys freak out about VR coverage a lot, and I think they're going about it the wrong way. We will be sitting on a virtual couch with the people soon enough, yes. ![]()
